Frequently asked questions
My drive is clicking. Can it still be recovered?
Often yes, but only if you stop using it now. Clicking means a head fault, and each further power-up can scratch the platters and end the chance of recovery.
The drive is not detected at all. Why?
Usually a PCB, motor or firmware fault. The inspection tells which one, and each has a different repair path.
I formatted it by mistake. Is the data gone?
Not necessarily. A quick format clears the index, not the data, and recovery is possible as long as nothing new was written over it - so stop using the drive immediately.
Do you handle external drives?
Yes: WD, Seagate, Toshiba and others. Sometimes only the USB bridge has failed; sometimes the drive is encrypted inside its enclosure. The inspection tells the two apart.
How long does hard drive recovery take?
Inspection takes one to two working days. After that it depends on the fault: logical damage is usually a few days, mechanical failure takes longer because matching donor parts are needed.
Can you recover a laptop drive?
